With iOS 16 now available to all, you no longer need to be enrolled in Apple’s beta program to get your hands on it. There are good reasons why you might not want to run prerelease software on your iPhone any more.

Here’s how to pull your iPhone out. It’s easy and only takes a minute or two.

No more iPhone betas

Maybe you joined the Apple Beta Software Program months ago to try out the new iOS 16 features. Or you could have joined recently just to get the release candidate a few days early. But now iOS 16 is out and you can resume getting the regular updates without dealing with buggy betas.

And there’s another good reason. While you have a beta profile still installed on your device, you miss out on regular releases that could include important fixes and security patches. We’ll show you how to easily remove it.

To unenroll from Apple’s public beta program, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and tap the iOS 16 Beta Software Profile. On the resulting screen, tap Remove Profile. Now reboot the iPhone and you’re done.

Without the profile, you won’t receive any future iPhone betas. All you’ll get are the same operating system updates everyone else receives, without the prerelease bugs. Of course, you will also miss out on early access to features coming in the next few months. That includes iCloud Shared Photo Library, Live Activities and other upcoming features.
